Vienna, Austria | with Baumsclager Eberle Architecture

MedUni Vienna project proposes a new focal point within the dense context of Vienna’s Alservorstadt District. The site consists of two monumentally protected structures from the 18th century and closely connected with the University of Vienna on Spitalgasse. The house of teaching and public spaces such as; “Aula” forms the organizational and communication core of the complex around the historical monuments and additive spaces. The horizontally elongated structures accommodate the laboratories, offices and administration rooms for each individual institutes separately on their formation. The buildings of the individual institutes relate to the central location, their front ends being grouped around lecture halls, seminar rooms, public spaces, and decentralized student learning. Also, the courtyards on different levels bring more daylight and create open public areas for general common use.
